Artists/designers selected: Alastair Noble and Kathy Bruce, Easton, PA
From the artists’ statement: The quilt is an icon that reflects the collective American historical consciousness of our past. Our Poetry Path project is inspired by Amish quilt designs that reflect the cultural identity of the people and history of the Lancaster region of Pennsylvania. In this design we have transformed the Amish quilt into sculptural poetry rings and pathways interwoven with embedded and cascading words that will enable the viewer to create their own individualized poetry.
Poetry selected: Excerpts from poems written by Ross Elementary students while riding the train to Philadelphia and back as part of Poetry Paths in the Schools
